Pathways to Lecturer Professionalism

The Staff Development Committee of the College of Economics and Business Administration organized a seminar/workshop themed “Pathways to Lecturer Professionalism” on September 20, 2022, at 12:00 PM at BS112.

Dr. Thuraya Khalifa Salim Al-Riyami, Head of UTAS-Ibra’s Research and Consultancy Committee, delivered an impressive presentation about teacher’s professional roles as transformative intellectuals.

Dr. Thuraya highlighted that lecturer’s role is stretched beyond the classroom. “A teacher should promote critical thinking, taking students to a higher level of thinking and help them to connect with themselves and the world”, she added. Her talk is centered on teachers as transformative intellectuals, community of practice, and reflection and research, all of which lead to pathways towards lecturer professionalism.

The event concluded with a word of thanks from Dr. Ramesh, HOS-Accounting.
