HSE Induction Program for New Engineering Staff

A Health and Safety Induction Program was conducted for the new staff of the Engineering Department last October 14, 2021, from 12:00 - 1:00 PM via MS Team. Organized by EDHSE Committee to orient the three new teaching staff on the HSE procedures and systems followed by the department and UTAS - Ibra.

The speaker was Dr. Varatharaju Muthusamy Vellalapalayam, one of the senior lecturers of the department. He discussed the benefits and details of conducting orientations in any workplace. He emphasized that Orientations help companies avoid accidents and increase productivity in any institution.

Dr. Varatharaju also shared the major purposes of HSE Orientation; to identify and manage risks safely and to get acquainted with the relevant HSE procedures adopted in the campus and every resource or laboratory. The scope of the HSE Orientations that includes the college HSE practices, feedback, and review policies was also thoroughly discussed with them.

It was a comprehensive discussion that will surely help the new teaching staff; to deliver this task with great awareness of its importance and the impact of this type of orientation on the students and the college in general.
