A demonstration and actual training on the use of fire extinguishers was conducted by the Engineering Department Health and Safety and Environment Committee last March 24, 2022, from 10:15 AM to 11:15 AM.

It aimed to train students and teachers on the basics of fire extinguishers and the appropriate use of different types. It was held at the UTAS-Ibra open grounds, thus allowing the participants to practice extinguishing fires from different origins.

The program started with a welcoming address and a brief introduction from Mr. Vineeth V V, Coordinator, EDHSEC. Mr. Loganathan - a lecturer and EDHSEC member, explained different types of fire, types of fire extinguishers, and the basic procedure to operate the fire extinguisher.

Mr. Raja Babu and Mr. Donato, both members of EDHSEC, gave the actual demonstration on how to extinguish different types of fires using appropriate fire extinguishers.

After the demonstration, the students were allowed to handle an actual fire situation with the guidance of the EDHSEC team.
