The English Language Center formally launches Writing center this semester.
Writing Center is a tutorial program that aims to improve the academic writing skills of ELC students. It is open based on the timetables that are prepared every semester . The timetables of participating teachers (which are flexible) are shown in the Student Tutorial Management and Registration (STMR) system which is located on the university website where students register . The registration serves as an appointment which must be done a day before the actual writing session. If the chosen teacher is not available, students can request another teacher using the STMR. Drop-in appointments are also possible on a first-come, first-served basis should the counselor be free.
Below is the registration process and mode of teaching this semester:
- Levels 1 & 4 – will be held face to face at the Writing Center (ground floor, ELC building)
- Levels 2 & 3 – online
The students can register in two ways:
- By appointment – the students will register online (please see the tutorial video on how to register on STMR)
- Drop-in or walk-in (first-come , first-served basis)
- Link - the students will simply click the link on MS Teams , which will be given by their Writing teacher every week. (for Levels 2 & 3 only)
We would like to request the level coordinators and advisers to show the attached posters and tutorial video to our students and encourage them to join the Writing Center , as our topics this semester are exam-based . They are the same LO’s in our weekly delivery plan (the same topics suggested /consolidated by the coordinators) which will be tested in their forthcoming quiz/exams. Students are required to bring their assignments or discuss general concerns with the chosen teacher. Students give their feedback using the prescribed tool after the tutorial session for the center to improve the system.
