A webinar was organized by OJT & Industry Link Committee - Engineering Department. It was conducted on 23rd March 2021 through the online platform Zoom Live Webinar from 5:00 to 6:00 PM by Ms. Zainab Mohammed Al-Balushi, Administrative and Technical Support Engineer of Locations Support Solutions Company who is an ICT alumna.
Ms. Zainab was part of the organizing committee of the Engineering Department community-related activities for students during her college days. She is now involve in making short informative videos for Shuoon Omani Electronic Newspaper. According to her, her active participation during her college days helped in building her personal and professional character now.
The webinar focuses on “Passion of Artificial Intelligence of Things [AIOT].” As she shared her valuable experiences from UTAS-Ibra, previously known as Ibra College of Technology (ICT), she explained the value of learning and internship.
“Having a passion of Artificial Intelligence nowadays is very important to keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution” was the webinar started its way. She highlighted how the Sultanate of Oman tend to use Artificial Intelligence and develop systems and machines in different aspects of Omani’s life.
She also added the progress of Artificial Intelligence implementation in Oman and enlightened the audience that in order to reach the advanced stage of Artificial Intelligence needs the support from young graduates of UTAS-Ibra.
She directed students and job seekers to start working in AI, which she believes will create many new jobs in future in the engineering field.
Students showed high interest and enthusiastically participated and interacted with her. It was indeed a great success; the Department hopes to continue this good start of involving more of our alumni in the future.
In closing, Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim, expressed his word of thanks and presented the Certificate of Appreciation to our speaker. He also extended his special thanks to the College Administrators and Engineering Department Administrators for their continuous support to the Committee’s activities.
