A talk on 'CLASSROOM ASSESSMENT TECHNIQUES'

The staff development committee of the IT Department conducted a workshop on the title ‘CLASSROOM ASSESSMENT TECHNIQUES’(CATs) on 5th September 2019 in IT302 at 11:30 AM.

The Resource person was Ms. Shafeen Komalam Mohan. She briefed all the staff members about why CATs are preferred and elaborated the need for them.

CAT’s are small-scale data gathering techniques conducted continuously by teachers to determine what students are learning in a given class. CATs fall into three broad categories based on what the students are used to evaluate:

  1. Techniques for assessing course related knowledge and skills.
  2. Techniques for assessing learner’s attitudes, values and self-awareness.
  3. Techniques for assessing learner’s reaction to instruction.

The session was concluded by highlighting the importance of CATs in the teaching learning scenario.
