ETC holds Workshop on ProQuest

Selected staff from the center’s Library Services Section (LSS) and Educational Services Section (ESS) attended the workshop organized by the Higher College of Technology and ProQuest on 21st January 2019.

With this, the ETC Staff Development and Staff Support Committee organized a ProQuest workshop on 10th February 2019 at AD204 in order to share the knowledge and skills the participants gained from the mentioned workshop to ETC Staff. ProQuest is a tool for the management and discovery of digital library collection. It is available to all staff and students of Colleges of Technology to support their teaching and learning requirements.

Mr. Erick C. Campano and Ms. Dolor P. Datuin were the trainers and the workshop was divided into two parts. The first part was facilitated by Mr. Erick, who gave a brief introduction about the ProQuest and its resources. He also explained how to access the portal, create accounts and how to use the databases and its various features. He also mentioned that the ProQuest is composed of ProQuest ebooks Central, ProQuest Theses & Dissertation, and ProQuest Central. He also explained the importance of citing and how it is done.

Ms. Dolor facilitated the second part wherein she explained the importance of creating another account for ProQuest ebooks Central to gain access to its different features. She mentioned and demonstrated the use of different types of research such as basic search, advance search, browse, and alert service.

Simultaneously, practical hands-on was there and inquiries were sought from the participants for further clarifications.
