Employee Recruitment and Compensation Practices

Nineteen diploma second year students of HRM specialization studying the course recruitment and selection attended the lecture on the topic ‘Employee recruitment and compensation practices’.

It was held on 7th March 2019 from 12pm to 1.30pm in BS 130. Speaker, Mr. Abdullah Al Harthy, Oman Shipping Company deliberated on the topic. Students participated in discussions and the speaker shared experience in his company. There questions from the audience and he answered them. Gave insights about areas which are not available in books. Overall the program was good.

The students got enlightened with the general compensation and recruitment practices in his company and in Oman explicitly relevant to government and public sector undertakings.

The discussion also covered the prominence of Omani labor law, highlighting the important role played by the Ministry of Manpower. He emphasized on the best practices in HR that is currently followed by organizations in Oman. He also suggested that any two-three best students can approach him for guidance to pursue career in the company if they are interested in shipping line.
