Around 150 entrepreneurship students attended the Interaction with Entrepreneurs at OCCI, Ibra on May 22, 2017. There were 2 sessions; 8:30 AM-10:00 AM and 10:30 AM – 12:00 NN.

Ms. Asma Rashed Al-Masroori, Duty Manager of OCCI, Ibra gave a little history of OCCI and discussed its functions. They are extending help and support to entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs. Examples of these are: 1) opening of businesses; 2) advertising entrepreneurs’ products or services; 3) helping entrepreneurs obtaining loans from funding agencies and many more.

Mr. Salim Jamea Al-Sinaidi, Branch Manager of OCCI also talked about their programs. The most popular business in Sharquiya Region are metal industries and software businesses. It is inspiring to hear that a lady entrepreneur who started with OMR 40 as capital is now having sales of OMR 40,000 in a perfume business. Also, it is glad to note that Oman ranks fourth in GCC in competitiveness index.

The students showed their enthusiasm by actively participating and asking questions. It was a very fruitful and informative activity. They learned many things which they can use in their Entrepreneurship classes.

They were accompanied by Entrepreneurship teachers, Dr. Fatma, Dr. Mathivanan, Dr. Praveen, Ms. Pauline, Mr. Riyas and Mr. Subir.
