Under the banner of the Engineering Society, the Department of Engineering has organized six Student Teams to provide some avenues of skills training particularly in the field of – Aerodynamics, Architecture, CNC, Robotics, Renewable Energy, and Embedded Systems. As future engineers of Oman, they will be groomed to join and participate in professional bodies like Oman Society of Engineers (OSE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
On the 20th of March 2018, an Orientation Program on Professional Bodies was conducted to promote a membership campaign and make the students aware of the benefits that professional organizations provide to its members particularly the OSE and IEEE.
Engineer Hamood Salim Al Sinaidi, Chief Executive Officer Oman Society of Engineers and Dr. Mohammed M. Bait-Suwailam, IEEE Oman Section Membership Development Officer – both gave a very strong motivation to the students. The speakers explained the opportunities that awaits for the members of OSE and IEEE for that matter. Dr. Sami Al-Ghnimi, HOD Engineering expressed his appreciation; we were so honored and thankful to the pillars of the leading professional bodies in Oman being our distinguished guests.
Aside from being a part of the audience, some students were given the chance to practice their skills in public speaking. Mitha’a Obaid Al-Malki gave the welcome address; the guest speakers were respectively introduced by Maysa Khalfan Al Ghunaimi and Ahmed Hilal Al-Ismaili. The success of the program was also made possible through the organizational support of Student Team members under the leadership of Omar Salim Al-Musalami.
We expect that all members of the six Student Teams will be more empowered considering the wide array of opportunities that awaits for them.
