Health and Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
Ibra College of Technology is greatly concerned for the health and safety of its staff and students. In its endeavor to promote awareness about Health and Safety initiatives, ICT often invites professionals from healthcare sector for various programs including workshops and seminars on selected topics.
A workshop on health and safety was organized on 9th May 2017 for staff members in ICT, handled by specialists from Ibra Hospital - Ministry of Health. The workshop was organized by the ICT Health & Safety committee.
The team of specialists from the Emergency Department at Ibra Hospital includes Dr. Faisal Abdullah Al Sawwafi, Dr. Hamood Salim Al Hajri and Mr. Ibrahim Abdullah Al Sinawi. The topics covered in the workshop were First Aid, handling of emergency situations and health care during Summer. The session provided thorough & practical knowledge in dealing with emergency situations. The participants were divided into a team of 15 members and hands-on training was given in the ABC protocol (Airway, Breathing, and Circulation) as a memory aid for rescuers performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Dr. Sami Al Ghinimi, Head of College Health and Safety Committee welcomed the facilitators. Dr.Essa Al Amri, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs gave closing remarks and vote of thanks.
It was a good learning experience for all staff and it enhanced their confidence in handling medical emergencies. The participants had the opportunity to interact with the team directly and address their various queries related to first aid and safety.
