Engineering Students Got Top Awards In the Al-Roya Project Competition

The Engineering Department got another achievement to be proud of for the awards of two student projects in the recently conducted Al-Roya Project Competition held at German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) on 3rd December 2017.

In the Robotics category, the project entitled “Automatic Weapon Control Using Arduino through Internet and RF” was awarded First Prize. The project was presented by our students in B. Tech in Electronics and Communication led by Mohammad Saleh Saif Al-Abdali, Ahmad Hamdoon Mohammad Al-Azizi, Asila Aamir Said Al-Musalhi, and Adari Khamis Haliyas Al-Bahlouli.

In the field of Electronics, the project entitled “Electrical and Water Billing System through Power Line Communication without using telecommunications network” was awarded Third Prize. The project was presented by B. Tech Electrical students - Mazen Musllem Hashel Al Himali and Yasir Saif Said Al Rahbi.

The two other projects that were accepted and passed the selection process in the said competition were:

"Smart Solar RF-Based Controlled Irrigation System" presented by Nafja Khalfan Al-Seneidi, Basoum Suleiman Al-Gahafi, and Laila Saeed Al-Maharbi.

“Smart PV Powered Automatic Moving Wheelchair for Special Need People.” presented by Mohammed Said Hamed Al-Obaidani, Mohammed Haroon Al-Blushi, and Salim Suliman Saloom Al-Othobi.

In this Al-Roya Project Competition, there were 231 project entries. At the first round screening, 60 projects were selected in three different categories: 20 projects in the field of Electronics, 20 projects in the field of Robotics, and 20 projects in Renewable Energy. During the final stage of the completion, 5 projects were selected from each category.
