CADD – Computer Aided Design & Drafting

Objective:

Computer-aided design (CAD) is the use of computers (or workstations) to aid in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design. CAD software is used to increase the productivity of the designer, improve the quality of design, improve communications through documentation, and to create a database for manufacturing. CAD output is often in the form of electronic files for print, machining, or other manufacturing operations. The term CADD (for Computer Aided Design and Drafting) is also used.

CAD software for mechanical design uses either vector-based graphics to depict the objects of traditional drafting, or may also produce raster graphics showing the overall appearance of designed objects. However, it involves more than just shapes. As in the manual drafting of technical and engineering drawings, the output of CAD must convey information, such as materials, processes, dimensions, and tolerances, according to application-specific conventions.

CAD may be used to design curves and figures in two-dimensional (2D) space; or curves, surfaces, and solids in three-dimensional (3D) space.

Benefits:

The Professional team in CADD will be trained in such a way to improve their drafting and design (modeling) skills using Autodesk softwares such as AutoCAD 2020 and Inventor 2020, which are the latest versions available in the market.

CAD is an important industrial art extensively used in many applications, including automotive, shipbuilding, and aerospace industries, industrial and architectural design, prosthetics, and many more. The main benefits of CADD is to solve complex problems, easy to edit the designs, requires less time and simulation is an added advantage.

COMPUTER NUMERICAL CONTROL - CNC

Objective:

CNC Machining is a process used in the manufacturing sector that involves the use of computers to control machine tools. Tools that can be controlled in this manner include lathes, mills, routers and grinders. The CNC in CNC Machining stands for Computer Numerical Control.

In recent trend of Manufacturing technique, Organizations are using so many new techniques of manufacturing one of the hot cake of same field is CNC programming.

The process is more precise than manual machining, and can be repeated in exactly the same manner over and over again. Because of the precision possible with CNC Machining, this process can produce complex shapes that would be almost impossible to achieve with manual machining. CNC Machining is used in the production of many complex three-dimensional shapes. It is because of these qualities that CNC Machining is used in jobs that need a high level of precision or very repetitive tasks.

Benefits:

The training programs conducted in professional team CNC mainly focused to give practice for our students to improve their programming skills and to understand function of G codes and M codes and machining cycles.

Knowledge in CNC programming and operation are very helpful if you are mechanical engineer and looking for a job in Manufacturing Industry.

Renewable Energy

As the life standards of people is increasing, the dependency on machines to do our daily activities is increasing. This leads to the increase of consumption of electricity. This continuous rise of demand of power by householders and industries is one of the major challenge for any nation. To meet the power requirements, all nations depend mostly on Fossil fuels. The combustion of fuel for generation of electricity is resulting in the emission of poisonous gases, smoke and dust. The high rate of use of fossil fuels is leading to its early exhaustion. For continuous power supply we all need to focus our attention on alternative energy sources to meet the ever-increasing power demand. Keeping this in view, we the students of Ibra College of Technology with the support of staff members of Engineering Department have setup a student club under the name of Renewable Energy Professional Team as a humble start to face this issue of energy crisis.

The Renewable energy professional team is one of the active professional teams in the Engineering Department of Ibra college of Technology. It is a multidisciplinary team with student members from all the specializations such as Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics and Architectural Engineering with all the levels of Programs offered at this institute. The Renewable energy professional team is commissioned with the following objectives.

Objectives:
  1. To discuss and conduct the activities on Energy conservation.
  2. To encourage the student community in creating the awareness about the various non-conventional methods of electricity generation, study and analysis of different types of solar photo voltaic power generation schemes, wind based power generation plant and fuel cell.
  3. To understand the design and installations of solar photovoltaic panels for residential and industrial applications.
Benefits:
  1. You will learn more about yourself: Joining in this team gives you opportunities to learn more about yourself, your goals, your strengths and weakness. You can learn from other students how they are handling certain situations. You can test your current knowledge. This self-awareness will be beneficial in your future career.
  2. you can improve the soft skills: the skills that allow us to effectively interact with others, like communication, attitude, and work ethically. Participating in professional team not only teaches you these skills, but also helps you to improve those already you have.
  3. You’ll learn how to work with a team: Meeting new students, making connections, and building relationships will all help you in the line when you’re looking for a job.
  4. You’ll gain leadership skills. You’ll get opportunities to improve in public speaking, and gain confidence in yourself as an individual.
  5. You’ll gain professional skills. You’ll get opportunities to work with professionals in design, installation and testing of different modules.
  6. You’ll gain practical experience in a safe environment. You’ll get opportunities to access the equipped laboratory under the supervision of faculty.
  7. You’ll expand your resume. The participation and hand on experience will enhance your technical and personal profile
  8. You’ll have fun: Meeting new people, making new friends, and participating in activities will help you to make your college life is more joyful.
