University of Technology and Applied Sciences - Ibra

Welcome to INNOVATIA 2023! This intercollegiate meet is a festival that provides a great opportunity to the management students to showcase their talent, critical thinking, creativity, and analytical skill.

We, the Department of Business Studies at UTAS - Ibra, would like to rekindle the spirit of management students in Oman. The INNOVATIA 2023 has 4 events i.e., Business Quiz, Finance Marvel, Marketing Maven, and HR Genius. With great pleasure, we invite students from your prestigious institution to participate in our INNOVATIA 2023.


  1. All events are group events. As such, each participating HEI can nominate only one team per event, consisting of two to three students.
  2. This event is only for undergraduate students.
  3. As the events are conducted simultaneously, the team participating in one event may not take part in other events.
  4. Participants are required to register for the event(s) through https://www.ict.edu.om/Innovatia2023/ on or before 30th April 2023 or kindly email the details to: innovatia@ict.edu.om
  5. All participants are requested to report to the assigned venues at least 15 minutes before the commencement of the event.
  6. Participants are required to bring a photo ID issued by the participating institution.
  7. Certificates will be given to all participants.

Business Quiz

This event is aimed at evaluating participants’ general knowledge as well as specific knowledge in select areas of management (Current Affairs, Marketing, HRM, Accounting, Finance, and Economics). It is also expected to promote scholastic excellence and competence through healthy and fair competition. In addition, it will provide an interactive platform for students from various HEIs across the Sultanate of Oman. This enables the participants to become familiar with current developments in management.

  • There will be two rounds (Preliminary & Final). The preliminary round is a computer-based quiz. The top five qualified teams will proceed to the final round, which will be held on the stage.
  • The specific terms and conditions of the quiz will be announced by the organizers/quiz master during the event.

Time: Preliminary at 10.00 AM to 10.30 AM

Final at 11.00 AM to 12.30 PM

Finance Marvel

This event is aimed at showcasing the student’s digital competence by integrating finance and technology using real-life company-prepared financial statements. It enhances students’ ability to demonstrate critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving and decision-making skills by building a financial statement analysis model using Excel.

  • Students will be provided with two sets of financial statements from different industries. Using MS Excel, they are expected to build a financial model to assess and comment on the company’s performance in terms of liquidity, solvency, profitability, and efficiency.
  • Winners will be selected based on their skills in using Excel functions to carry out the analysis and the validity of the comments.

Marketing Maven

This event brings out the latent talents of the students in creating a memorable and effective business tagline/slogan which is crucial for businesses today to grab customer attention, promote brand awareness, and establish a competitive edge. It enlightens budding marketing professionals on how to associate customers with a company using a quick phrase.

  • A specific product/service will be provided to participants. They need to develop a catchy and attractive tagline/slogan, as well as a justification for positioning the brand.
  • Winners will be selected based on the content, connectivity, and creativity of the tagline.

Time: 10.30 AM to 11.30 AM

Venue: ELC Main Hall

HR Genius

This event promotes learning through a fun way to reinforce key concepts and terms related to human resource management. By participating in the competition, students can develop a better understanding of the subject matter, encouraging collaboration and communication among team members. This facilitates the participants to enhance their lifelong learning skills.

  • The event is entirely based on concepts from the Human Resource Management specialization. The participants will be required to solve a crossword puzzle using a computer. There will be a clue for every word, and a few letters will be available by default.
  • Winners will be judged based on their fastest completion time and the number of correct answers.
