L03W03 Writing Contact Hours: 5 hours/week
Prerequisites Students who score between 51%-70% in the Placement Test and students who pass Elementary Level
Objectives
The students should be able to:

L3W1 - Use pre-writing strategies to plan, develop, and refine composition skills at an essay level.
L3W2 - Use punctuation marks properly to achieve an effective composition
L3W3 - Write essays using conjunctions (and, but, so, or, because) and appropriate grammar structure.
L3W4 - Review drafts of essays to improve meaning and clarity
L3W5 - Write a narrative (time order/timeline) paragraph of 75-100 words on a familiar topic with an effective topic sentence, supporting sentences and a concluding sentence, responding to a written text.
L3W6 - Know, understand and analyze a structured essay: Effective introduction paragraph with a clear thesis statement, giving examples, details and facts to support main ideas in supporting paragraphs and a conclusion paragraph in a narrative essay.
L3W6-1 - Write a descriptive essay of 175-200 words (places) with an effective introduction, body and a conclusion, responding to a written text or free writing.
L3W6-2 - Write a process/instruction essay (approximately 200 words) on a familiar topic with an effective introduction, supporting paragraphs and a conclusion, responding to a written text or free writing.
L3W6-3 - Write a compare and contrast essay on a familiar topic(places) of 175-200 words with an effective introduction, body and a conclusion, responding to a written text or free writing.
L3W6-4 - Write an essay (approximately 200 words) describing and /or comparing graphs and charts, with an effective introduction, body and a conclusion.
